    Missing Cat :(

My wife noticed this morning. We have two cats (littermates, both males), and one was missing this morning. She looke all over the house about 3 times, woke me up, and then I did the same. Lately he has been making dashes for the door and smelling around on the porch (indoor cat only, never outdoors, and spring has lots of fun new smells).

The last time we remember seeing him was 10pm last night. Right before I moved my car from one side of the street to the other. It looks like he must have dashed out then, but I still can't see how he would have sneaked past me.

Anyway, we scoured the neighborhood, looked under porches, etc. We will wait till Monday to contact a shelter, wish we knew our neighbors better

Fast action is required to recover an animal. Sounds extreme but e-mail a description of your cat to every vet in a 30 mile radius. Contact shelters every couple of days.. If you don't keep in touch with shelters they may overlook an animal. Talk to kids in neighborhood. they see everything that moves. And good luck.

Good luck Brian. I am sorry to hear that he may be lost. Check around the house again. I have 3 cats in an apartment and somehow can never find 1 of them when I notice that he has been missing for a while. I shake the food bag which usually has him running.

    Yeah we are contacting shelters.

These cats never hide from us, and definitely come when we shake a bag of food. Nothing

    Re: Missing Cat :(

I have two inside cats and occasionally one will simply hide for no reason. Of course they are not "hiding" but simply lying there in plain sight.. if one stands on their head while squinting under the tablecloth through the open cabinet door to the small space under the drawer inside the cabinet itself.
I hope that your baby is inside being naughty. I second the call teh vets, call the shelters and if possible take a picture to all too. Check the shelters personally as much as possible. Some shelters have volunteers answering phones, and are known to say, nope no cat like that here.. without even looking. They are burned out and don't care. Or just tired of hearing, "I have a black cat? Is he there?" Whatever reason, go there personally as much as possible, and asking everyone in the neighborhood. Most cats don't go far, walk the area calling him if you can. You can even shake the food bag as you walk. I've done worse while trying to locate my dog, the one time she got loose. Embarressed? Not a bit. If it recovers the pet it is all good.
GOod luck, and don't panic yet.

    Re: Missing Cat :(

Collar?? Tags of any kind? If U have pics print out some lost cat fliers and put them up all around the neighborhood. Maybe even go door-to-door w/the fliers.

We went thru this too when we moved in Nov. Didn't realize the garage went directly under/into the foundation of the house and there was a hole to the outside. Pesky got out the first night right after we moved. Luckily she was stil wearing the tags from my sister's in Seattle. The neighbor called the number and my sister called me at work.

The "finder" was only two houses down but it took us 2 days to get Pesky back.

We'll keep our fingers crossed and prayers floating for you. I KNOW how worried you both are!

No tags or collar, not sure why, it wasnt until the last week or so that puma started getting interested in going outside (spring smells). He is only 10 months old.

    Re: Missing Cat :(

Try putting out open cans of tuna, salmon or sardines, after dinnertime just before dusk. You will attract other cats, maybe even a raccoon or skunk but it may bring your own cat in from the area. Just sit really quietly where you can view your bait and see if the lost little one picks up the smells. By the way...go for cheap tuna, etc....it tends to be more "fishy" smelling.
