    Snakes don't chase people...

Sharing this from The Snake Anti-Defamation League:

    SNAKES DON'T CHASE PEOPLE!

Cottonmouths don't chase people. Rattlesnakes don't chase people. There are no snakes that chase people! They can't eat us, and there is no other reason for them to chase us. Even if they did chase us, we could easily outrun them.

If your uncle told you that a snake chased him away from his favorite fishing hole, just remember that your uncle is an idiot and he drinks.

Be nice to snakes! They want nothing to do with people and they have an important job to do. Leave them alone and let them do it!

agreed. I grew up in an area with a massive cottonmouth/water moccasin population.
I don't know of any that has ever chased anyone.

they may follow a topwater lure toward your boat, but they're not chasing you, they are viewing that bait as potential prey.

I will say that at times (not always, but sometimes) they will absolutely stand their ground with aggressive displays.

But remember, that's not "aggressive" but "defensive". Changing perception is what we need to keep on with. People forget that, & it's a short hop to getting a shovel to kill another innocent snake.

If we're in our homes, & someone breaks in, we can legally defend ourselves. NO one calls that aggressive...no, only when it's a snake. Please remember that, & help others understand.
