Scientifically snakes are "mindless" (instinct rather than thought), but in my experience over the years...I disagree. They "know" who isn't a threat and who is and might I even say, "recognize" their handlers.
I would agree...even if its only by scent.

FINALLY got my BEL,no longer breeding snakes. married to mechnut450..
She's a gorgeous girl! Definite a rat snake. I have a snow motley cornsnake girl who LOVES to troll on me while I'm sitting at my desk. Her tub is right behind my desk chair and I'll look behind me and she's got her face up to the tub looking at me. Then she'll follow my finger when I mess with her. She's a joy to have around and probably my favorite cornsnake out of the bunch. Just be ready to be spot cleaning daily! This snow motley poops every day while my other corns poop 1-2x a week.
Went to check her temps the last few days and that girl can poop! And it stinks like I have never smelled snake poop before...and I have cleaned up A LOT of snake poop. Fecal came back fine so she's going to be a REAL treat!
