Congratulations for finding him, but dont use tape anywhere near reptiles

now you have your experience with an escaped snake, dont let another bad experience with a taped snake follow. Maybe, depending on the setup, you can just put a heavy book or stone or something on top of it.

As long as the tape is outside the enclosure, it should be fine. Unless your snake gets out again he's not going to be able to get stuck on it.
