    Chiefs Draft

I'm a die-hard Chiefs fan and have been very impressed by their off season moves, both with coaching and players. Now I live in Florida, so I dont hear much on what is being discussed with the team unless I see it on ESPN or their website. Now I'm hearing a lot about them going after Aaron Curry out of Wake Forrest. A stud linebacker and possibly the overall best player in this years draft. Now with the Chiefs switching to a 3-4 hybrid defense, I can see him making an impact in his first year. I would be happy to see him as a Chief and hopefully we can get more than 10 sacks this season. However, with the aquisition of Matt Cassel, I feel that we need to go after an Offensive Lineman to protect our QB. I know that we drafted Branden Albert last year. I was not able to watch to many games last year but heard he did a good job. Although the Chiefs gave up 37 sacks in 08' (tied 21st) There are a few good tackles out there. Jason Smith/Baylor, Eugene Monroe/Virginia, Andre Smith/Alabama and Micheal Oher/Mississippi. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a dominating defense like we had in the 90's. I would also like to have a top 10 Offensive Line as well. I know there is a few Chiefs fans here, so give me your thoughts.

    Re: Chiefs Draft

andre smith gets no love cause he skipped that combine, but i think he's the best OT in the draft.
i agree with you though... KC is like the detroit, they dont even need a super QB as bad as they need an O-line.

    Re: Chiefs Draft

We still have holes to fill....but last season with a crummy O-line, we still had the ability to throw 20-30 points up a game. I love Flowers and Carr, I think we have a stud young secondary, we just need to beef up our LB Core. I want Curry so bad...Vrabel would be an outstanding Mentor for him.

    Re: Chiefs Draft

KC is suppose to be playing in Jacksonville this year so hopefully Ill get to see the new Chiefs, first time to see them play since I went to Tampa to see them play in 2004.

Last game I saw in Arrowhead was a playoff game vs the Raiders in 91 or 92, I was 11.

Both my parents and in-laws are season ticket holders. Between the two, I will find a way to go to the home opener. Can you imagine how crazy Arrowhead will be with a new coach, new gm, and new franchise qb!?! It is going to be crazy!!

I have no clue what to expect from this team. Something positive has to be going on behind the scenes...apparently Larry wants to stay now.

    Re: Chiefs Draft

It would be nice to see them pick up one of the tackles with their pick. They just picked up their QB, they should protect him.

IMHO, There are only a few positions that are worthy of a top 10, top 5 pick. Linebacker is not one of them. Most linebackers are only as good as their defensive line allows them to be. You can get productive linebackers anywhere in the draft, and they're kinda like running backs, you need them to be fast, healthy and athletic and you're good to go - you can plug a lot of bodies in. And I'm not sure Curry is much of a pass rusher, and I wouldn't think a very good, all around linebacker, without the pass rushing skills, it worthy of a top 10 pick. ...I'm fully aware that he'll be picked in the top 10 but...
