    What everyone said and....

    I know my snakes well and hook trained my boa because of a crazy food response.

    My corn could care less what I am doing in the tank. My BP is in between.

    However. I usually remove my snakes when doing anything inside the tank to prevent a defensive, or worse, food response bite.

    It often stresses them out less to be removed and placed in a holding area/enclosure while you do tank maintainence.

    Then put them back when done.

    This works well for me and they know the routine.
