Thumbs down David Cook... Did anyone watch Idol Tonight?

So I'm a huge Chris Cornell fan... and I really love HIS version of Billy Jean...

I also am watching American Idol this season...Up till now, I've enjoyed David Cook... I thought he was cocky, but a really good vocalist. Then I watch him tonight singing Billy Jean... pretty much verbatim to Chris Cornell's version... and that's OK! EXCEPT... that he stood there and took full credit for taking such a risk on the song arrangement... To me, it made the judges look ridiculous... because the song HAD been done like that already, and their praising his originality...

Just had to rant to someone...

I love David Cook, and I saw him tonight and I thought he was amazing, but I didnt realize he copied someone else's song. But then again so did that Salesha girl, Alicia Keys did a modern version of that song If I Was Your Woman, and she didnt mention anything about that. sillies!

Yea... I'm sure it happens quite a bit now that I think of it...

But it still really bothered me to watch him get patted on the back for taking the song to such extremes... when it had already been done. *Bye one of my all time favorite vocalists no less*...

Re: David Cook... Did anyone watch Idol Tonight?

David Cook is my favorite to win the entire competition. I thought his performance last night was amazing and on par with someone whose album I would buy and listen to. And credit WAS given to Chris Cornell before the performance. When they announced his song, they said it was the Chris Cornell arrangement. I think the judges' comments were more that he (David Cook) was pushing the limits of the competition and his own ability, not referring to the arrangement of the song. At least that's the way I heard it...

I wanted to post this earlier but couldn't since I was at work. If you watch this again, you will hear Ryan Seacrest intro the song as Chris Cornell's version of Billy Jean. For those who missed it, here ya go...
