Yes, they are. Their care is almost the same. Bump the temps down about two degrees on the hot side on cool side (90F and 80F) and you should be good to go. They are also more lenient than ball pythons with relative humidity. All of mine hardly ever have bad sheds, and I keep the humidity in the 40 - 50 % range.

You also have to be more careful about feeding them. You should put them on an every seven day feeding regimen as babies, every ten days as sub-adults, and every 14 - 21 days as adults. Their metabolism is slower than a ball pythons. The frequency of feeding is determined by the size of the prey. Larger prey items require longer digestion time. Good luck.

I handled her fine last night... but this morning I took her out, and she was in a coiled wrapped up position under her hide... is that like " hey i'm sleeping, don't f*ck with me! " position? I took her out and she remained in the twisted up position, even when I sat her on my lap... and she followed my every movement with a s-neck lookin to strike position, then in a snap she just relaxed and started moving around and letting me hold her.

guess im just used to ballys and gotta make the adjustment... i never got bit, so i kind of wish a snake would bite me already so i can get it outta my mind. lol. maybe ill go wake her up and grab her tail joking!

That is exactly what I do with mine. Except there Humidity stays 65% to 70% (thank you boaphiles ) I feed mine the same as well. Under a year, every 7 days. Over a year, every 10 days and over 3 years, every 14 days. I have never had a bad shed on anyone of my boas and all are trash cans when it comes feeding time. Its great because if one of my BPs turn down food (which doesn't happen often with me) I def. have a boa that will take it down .
