water for snakes
I have to leave town for about a week to deal with an emergency situation. I was wondering if someone had an easy practical way to keep water in my snakes bowls as I'm unable to make arrangments for boarding.
I have 2 bp's in sterilite containers and was wondering if some sort of system like the cat water dishes that you invert a 2 litre bottle with water would work
1.0 Normal, Monty
0.1 Pinstripe, Penny
0.1 "Normal", Brownie
0.1 Bichon Poo, FooFoo
0.2 Homo Sapiens, Gina (breeder), Charlie (offspring)

I really wouldnt worry to much, since it is going to only be a week the snakes should be fine. If anything i would just have a friend maybe come over 3 or 4 days after you leave and check/change water if you are really worried about it. But as long as the snake doesnt knock the bowl over you should be all set!

I've used the inverted two liter cat bowl thing before, and it works great...unless you have a big female who likes to knock it over. Silly girl. Other than that, it was great!

I only change the water once a week normally. Unless you're using tiny water bowls, they should be fine.

I agree, use one of those inverted pet bowl things or a bigger bowl. Even people who have the best intentions of caring for your pets while you are away make mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes are very costly I.M.E.
I won't get into details, but I had a few instances where I went on vacation when I was younger and neighbors ended up caring for pets. Long story short, there were a lot of dead fish and my rat snake went missing. None of it was intentional by a longshot, but "accidents" happen.

What???? You should be cleaning your snakes dish and giving it fresh new water every day... how would you like to drink the same bottle of water for an entire week?
edit: sorry didn't know this thread was so old.

I will often grab a bottle of water thats been sitting on my desk for a day or more and drink it. Its fine. Water has no sugar in it so nothing grows too rapid in except for algae and that doesn't thrive without sunlight. If you clean the water bowl well and give fresh water once a week you will be fine. Every day is overkill in my opinion. I really hate the whole in the wild argument but....in the wild BP's don't have access to fresh water every day and when they do the definition of fresh is water that other animals use as a toilet.
