Re: illegal issue
Animals not allowed below. Bloods should be ok.
New York Environmental Conservation §11-0103. This law defines "wildlife" as prosimians and nonhuman primates, felidae except domesticated cats, feral cats and their offspring, canidae except domesticated dogs as well as fennec fox, ursidae, venomous reptiles as well as burmese pythons, reticulataed pythons, African rock pythonns, green anacondas, yellow anacondas, Australian pythons, Indian pythons, Asiatic monitors, Nile monitors, white throat monitors, black throat monitors, crocodile monitors along with any hybrid of these reptiles and finally crocodilia.

You can contact this agency if you want to be 100% certain...

However, I'm pretty sure that only the giant snakes are an issue in NYC. The wording of the law is that no one is allowed to own "wildlife". The definition of wildlife being what I quoted in my first post.

I believe its because there is no exportation allowed of any of the native snake species of Australia. So if someone in the US has one it would have been obtained illegally. Don't quote me on that though...

They are captive bred obviously. And if thats the case I would've figured it;d say something like no bearded dragons, Australian moniters, parakeets, cockatoos, ect, ect... I just find some bans weird? I can understand senators and people like thats get freaked out by giant snakes, crocs, and maybe moniters but something like all autralian pythons? Its stupid.

Re: illegal issue
That is kind of odd wording, the Australian Antaresia are the smallest pythons in the world. I think the anthill python Antaresia perthensis averages around 18 inches? And Australia hasn't allowed exports of their native wildlife since the 60's Why would NYC consider it a problem?

Re: illegal issue
It is a felony to possess any python in NYC, even ball pythons. Outside of the 5 boroughs the above list applies.
