    Hatchling Rack

    Materials Needed:

    (1) 4x8 sheet of plywood (your preference of wood, these plans are built around a standard 1/2" thick 4x8 sheet of plywood)

    (1) Sheet of Pegboard

    (10) 6 Qt Sterilite Tubs (Im using them WITH the lids so the wood doesn't bubble)

    (1) Pack of Drywall Screws

    (1) 5' strip of 4" Flexwatt Heat Tape

    (1) Thermostat (Of Your Choice, I prefer Herpstats)

Also, im using 3 cans of black wood spray paint, to paint the rack.. This is optional obviously, i just dont like the color of bare wood...

    Wood Cuts:

    1) Cut a 36" Wide strip off of one side of the 4x8 Sheet.

    2) Out of the 48"x60" strip, cut two, 15" wide strips side by side.

    3) Out of the 18"x60" strip, cut the strip in half to make two strips of 9"x60" strips.

    4) Out of each of the two 9"x60" strips, cut four 15" long strips, giving you eight of
    eleven shelves needed.

    5) Out of the remaining 48"x36" strip, cut 27" off of the width, making a 9"x48".

    6) Out of the 9"x48" strip, cut three 15" long strips. This will make the eleven out of
    eleven shelves needed.

    7) Cut a 10"x60" strip out of the pegboard for the back of the rack.

    Pieces You Should Get:

    (11) 1/2" Thick x 9" Wide x 15" Long Cutouts (Shelves)

    (2) 1/2" Thick x 15" Wide x 60" Long Cutouts (Sides)

    (1) 10" Wide x 60" Long Pegboard Cutout (Back)

    Putting it Together:

    1) Screw both side pieces (15"x60" strips) to one of the shelves as shown below. (I used a 90 Degree Angle Clamp to hold in together on a perfect Right Angle.)

    1st Side In...

    2nd Side In...

    2) Cut a piece of cardboard to the size of one of the shelves to use as a spacer. To begin building shelves, place the cardboard on the bottom (really the top) shelf. Then place the tub upside down on top of that. Lastly, place another shelf directly on top of the upside down tub as shown below. (*NOTE* you are building the rack upside down).

(I screwed this shelf in After i took the picture, so that is why you don't see the cardboard)

    3) Make sure everything is level. When everything is seems to be level begin to pre-drill holes. Always pre-drill to prevent splitting. Once you have pre-drilled, screw in a screw.

    4) Keep Doing this to build each shelf until you are finished!

    Getting There!

    DONE!

Full View, With The Tubs In... (The Un-Painted edges got painted)

    Heating:

The 5' of 4" Heat Tape will get Tape to down the middle of the 60" long strip of pegboard. Make sure it is running DOWN, so the plug runs out of the bottom. The pegboard will then be screwed into the back of the rack, and the rack with be hooked up to a thermostat.

    Chips & Perfecting (Optional):

If you get any little chips or "imperfections" Get some wood putty, and fill the chip.

Then wipe off the extra, making it smooth and flush. Allow it to dry, and if your rack is painted, paint over the hardened putty.
