    Perfect shed! (w/ post-shed pics)

Toby (my pastel) finally shed for the first time, since getting him as a hatchling in mid-May. I was actually gone last weekend, and got back to find him in the opaque stage... then I noticed some serious wrinkling last night, and this afternoon I saw his hide moving across the cage. I thought he had a poltergeist in there, until I realized he was just using it to pull off the shed - LOL. Took a good 30-40 minutes, but the result was a PERFECT shed. Made me feel like a competent keeper, since obviously his husbandry is right on. Here's a shot of the skin, which measured at around 26 inches... and of course, some post-shed pictures of my pretty boy.

Hey - that smells like me!

Thanks! I think he's beautiful too, but of course I'm a little biased. Can't wait to make bumblebees, super pastels, and eventually KILLER bees with him!

LOL... no, first time since I brought him home. I assume he shed and ate before they sold him to me!

Toby says thank you! He weighed 304g last week, before shedding and pooping... hoping to get him to breeding weight by November.

P.S. My adult female weighed in at a whopping 1900g last week - she's ready for her boyfriend, hehe.

Ah I see. I thought he was much bigger then that, in the 1000+ gram range haha! My new pastel male should be 300 grams soon, eats like a pig every 5 days! Yours also looks like it's eating well .

I guess he just photographs big, LOL. He is a VERY good eater, and has never refused a meal... he'll take mice, rats, live or F/T, unlike my picky girls. Hopefully he will reach the 1000-mark within the year!
