Has anyone here ever bred ASF siblings together?

I started with a 1.3 ASF colony, and they produced lots of babies before two of my female breeders died. All the babies I have left now are full brothers and sisters. Some are littermates and some are from different litters. I could start a new colony tomorrow but I'd have to use siblings.

Can sibling (possibley littermates) produce healthy enough babies to be used for feeders?

    Thanks

Yep they can. At some point down the road you do want to bring in some new blood to any rodent colony just to avoid too much in-breeding.

I agree with Jo I in bred for awhile with no problems. Then brought in some new blood and colors and now breeding has taken off.

If you still have the original male, you could put him with a couple young females, 1.2 or 1.3 and still wouldn't be inbreeding. It would be line breeding. Just an idea.

you can inbreed several generations without issue. but keep in mind, with most of the breeders out there, they have already been inbred for too long.

It's true what Mike says. Go ahead and line breed if you can.
