    A Kidding Watch Thread

I thought it would be fun to post Cowbell's kidding watch here. I always post a kidding watch on my goat forum, and since there are a few goat people here as well, I thought you might enjoy it.

Goats carry for approximately 150 days. Cowbell here (a Nigerian Dwarf Goat) has a due date for July 14th. They normally kid between 140 - 150 days, with goats carrying multiples dropping early.

    So here we go.

Okay, first off, excuse the horrific photography. My camera was going dead and the goats were insistent that they wanted to chill in their pen; they've been out browsing all day and it was break time.

Then of course all the goats want to be right in my face to get scratches.

This is day 140 for Cowbell! The pictures just plain do not show how massive she really is. Soon as I get new batteries you'll see.

Ligaments are getting just a bit soft and her udder has been filling for some time. (The poor thing is SO poorly attached and hangs. It never ever shrank down after being dried off. She has AMAZING capacity and milks out a ton, but I tell you, no buckling of hers will leave my property with his jewels. On a good note, her daughters Rudy and Sugar are showing an improved udder structure, or at least Rudy is. Sugar will be bred at the end of the year and then we'll see.)

Cowbell had triplets last kidding and the one before that as well. All her kiddos are reserved. I won't be retaining, unless she drops something unbelievable. She also won't be bred again until (at the EARLIEST) October - November of next year. And maybe not then. Just depends on her over all health. She is a good sturdy doe and very healthy, but I want to see how she handles this kidding before deciding.

    Here is the sire:

How about some guesses? Anyone want to haphazard a time, date, how many kids, what sexes? It's fun, I promise.

Good lord I looked just like that when I carried my babies! All belly and not much else LOL.

She looks so uneven I bet it is three again so my guess will be 2 males, 1 female and she'll deliver them on July 8th.

Oooh, no! Think pink thoughts! LOL.

I had two other does kid this year with four boys in between them. (One unsexed stillborn as well)

I need some PINK! I wouldn't mind one boy, since I have a wether (neutered male) request on my waiting list.

July 8th is a good date, let's hope she drops early rather than late hehe.

LOL sorry my mind went to blue not pink. I'd love to have goats one day. For now I have to go visit the local zoo where I can brush goats to my heart's content.

Her ligaments are getting even softer, and her udder is filling. She also has a small bit of goo when she pees.

The evil girl is gonna have these babies before I get new batteries!

    And indeed she did!

Around 5 am this morning she snuck them out.

She had me fooled good, I tell you.

So here they are, two beautiful healthy twin . . . boys!

    Congrats to Cowbell!

More pictures when I get new batteries.
