    need help!!

Ok I have tried several times to try and breed mice but EVERY time a mom drops a littler the babies get eaten!! I got a group from a guy and he told me to keep 1.10 and they will be fine. I keep them in a 10 gallon setrilite tub, so what am I doing wrong? Is my ratio to high?

That seems really crowded to me. If they don't have enough resources (good food, water, space) they're more likely to kill their babies. Depending on space, I've kept between 1.2 and 1.5 and had very few lost litters.

Yeah sounds a little overcrowded to me, in your current tub size you should have 1.3

I do 2:20 in the cement mixing tubs, same tubs I keep 1:4 rats in. Works fine for me, we produce tons of mice.

Mice are often hard to get started so first do not give up and find what work for you.

Cannibalism can be linked to several things

Overcrowded living space - Diet - Lack of security etc

For ME what I found was working best was to have smaller groups 1.2 in small cat litter pan.

They are house in a rack like this one

Since I have been breeding them using this method I have experienced 0 cannibalism and my litters average 14-18 babies.

All you can do is to try and find what works for you once you do it will be a smooth ride.

    Re: need help!!

I house 1:4 or 1:5 in a 10g then once they reach that golfball size and are about to burst I transfer them to the birthing tank, which houses between 2 to 4 pregnant/nursing females at a time, nursing and weaning, once eyes open they get moved to the weaner tank. Then the moms get put back in to be bred again.

My largest litter so far is 19, and we average about 12 to 15 per litter.
