    Cleaning day pics

I was cleaning some cages today and feeding these guys and thought I would snap some pics.

This is my first copperhead I got she was my first venomous. And I could not ask for a greater hot snake. She is calm as can be rides a hook great and doesnt give me any trouble at all. Shes very easy to hook and remove from the cage to clean or anything. And I love her colors.

This is my second copperhead. We went to get some rat racks from a guy a couple months ago and as I was loading them up he asked me if I kept any venomous and I told him one copperhead and he said well I have two you can have Im getting out of snakes and dont want them anymore and I went to look at them and they looked horrible both were in horrible condition it didnt look like he ever fed or watered them. I took them home and the first one died that night and I never expected the other to last this long but he has and is starting to gain some weight back. He is nothing like my first one. Hes hot and he will let you know it lol. Hes horrible about riding a hook. He thinks hes a cobra lol but that makes it more fun cleaning his cage.

Hes telling me to leave him alone so he can eat

    Hope you enjoy!
    Danny

    Your girl is gorgeous..

Whenever I get situated, I want to get a cobra. I'm probably going to stick with a monacoled cobra, as their size is about what i'm looking for.

My only other option is a desert horned viper(they're beautiful).

Other then that the main reason is I don't feel like hassling with a permit right now, because I don't have a locking tank.

Yea Im hoping to add a few more venomous to the collectioin once we get them out of the house. I dont want to get anything more dangerous while they are in our house. But im looking to add a pair of gaboons and rhinos and a pair of albino mono cobras.

If you get cobras, get them from Mitch(diamondreptile). Some of his mono's are great temperment wise and were born last year. Plus any questions i've had hes always been more then grateful enough to answer, even helped me find my rufous.

If I had to guess you can get it in a tube, and try that or just, take the hook, and maybe something shallow sort of water, depending on the snake.

very nice copperheads, i would not suggest getting a gaboon, rhino or cobra as a second venomous snake.. they are very different from copperheads.. gaboons and rhinos are not usually to bad to handle but there are exceptions. cobras are very different they are fast and not all young ones ride a hook well so some tailing is needed and thats not something you want to do unless your experienced. i would get a few others first maybe some rattlers, cotton mouths. oh yea and good job getting the copperhead back to health. sucks the one died but theres nothing ya can do.

    Re: Cleaning day pics

I actually really enjoy dealing with mitch. We bought a pied from him at the columbia show and it died and he is giving us a new one as soon as they hatch! I love his cobras!

Im not just jumping into cobras or anything. I have hooked cobras and handled them on hooks. I have a friend that houses about 45 venomous animals at his house and I work with him cleaning cages. I would never jump into something that could kill me. The only reason I do not own one yet is bwecause my animals are housed in my house and I have children. But we have a building now that they are going to be moved into and then we will add onto the venomous.

When they have a bad shed which one of them is horrible about. I take them out and soak them for about 30 minutes and then I have long tongs that I use to feed them and I can usually grab a piece of bad shed with that and pull it off while they are in the tub. If that does not work I place my fingers behind the head and hold them out and my wife will remove the stuck shed. But it usually works great with the tongs as long as they have soaked for a while
