Should I or Shouldn't I.....
Hey there, I usually post over on the bp side 'cause thats the bulk of my collection, but I do have a lone female BCI that is more a part of the family than any of the bp's. I have an opportunity to purchase an '07 Super Salmon het for Sunglow (no papers, but looks gorgeous) male for $350. He has a whole group of stuff he is looking to sell, but said he could sell off seperate as well. His initial price was $400, but with mentioning no paperwork to prove anything, went down 50 bucks. He is local, so shipping won't be a factor. The real stickler is, as usual, I am pretty busy right now, and would have to shave time somewhere to pick him up and get settled in. Not a big deal, I guess,, I don't know for sure why I'm so hesitant. What do you all think? Is that a good price anyway? Says he picked it up at a show in Chicago. Don't even think he remembers which breeder it was. So many non answers....

0.1.0-Boa Constrictor Imperator- Lola
1.0.0-het purple albino SD Reticulated Python

Re: Should I or Shouldn't I.....
That is pretty cheap for a Super DH glow... I dunno I just got into boas so I'm not really that experienced but I know what I paid for my animals and that price isn't really what I'd think you'd pay. Unless this guy is having a fire sale or the animal isn't very high quality. No paperwork is kind of sketch, you can get a really nice poss/probable super salmon with papers for $350 shipped from a reputable breeder...

Pretend you're buying a normal.
It is worth the price?
If it was a choice of that one or a snake with papers, and you could ONLY pick one, which one would you choose?
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

^Especially if you plan on breeding. If you have a normal then a super with papers is a good way to go. You'll get all hypos.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I have a normal that is more than minimum breeding size. Its not a normal, its at least salmon (hypomelanistic?) Here are two pics he sent. Do these look like it is worth $350?

Well like Wilomn said it has no papers, so you are buying a hypo boa and taking this guy at his word that it is DH.
Now if the DH really does not matter to you then you just have to ask yourself if you like the look of the boa.
If the DH matters then you have to ask yourself if it turns out to not be DH will you still be happy with the snake in 5-10 years or will you always feel ripped off for buying a DH sunglow boa.

Um, did you even read our posts? That would be a good price but there are no papers and no guarantee it is a DH. Not to mention I've seen some normals that look an awful lot like Hypos and aren't.
Again, always always ALWAYS get papers if you intend to breed. I will not buy from a breeder that doesn't provide paperwork and guarantees.

Re: Should I or Shouldn't I.....
I think the boa pictured is a nice hypo, NOT a super.
I think the price is OK, but the buyer has to make that choice. Hypos can be purchased cheaper.
It could indeed be het/but the seller didn't offer any guarantee of any kind. Sounds like he bought it as a possible het?????maybe purchased as a possible super??????? If he paid for a super hypo het albino he would value it for more than $350.
Let us know if you buy him.
