    Humidity

I am currently housing my ball python in a 10 gallon glass aquarium. The substrate I'm using is aspen. I am having a terrible time keeping the humidity up where it should be........especially during shed.

    What do you all do?

    Re: Humidity

Ok, Tank Queen to the rescue once more.

To keep humidity stable in a tank, you have to have the screen top covered mostly with either foil (I have a sticky picture tutorial in the caging forum) or plexiglass. Wood, plastic wrap, and towels do not really do the job as well as Plexi and foil.

Once the top is covered, you have to make sure that you don't have any lamps closer than 8" to the top (they suck the moisture right out). Having fake greenery in the tank helps too, as you can mist that and not get the bedding wet.

    Re: Humidity

You could also add some dampened natural sea sponge to increase your humudity during shed.

    Re: Humidity

We have a small humidifier in the snake room, keeping it at a constant 50-55% humidity.
It is around 60-65 in the tubs though.

Doing that would potentially expose a sticky side to the snake unless you doubled it up. I know how sticky gorilla tape can be.

I would suggest this instead; it works out for a bunch of members here and uses less duct tape.

Looks like Argentra beat me to the punch...after all, it is her idea.
