Reptile room rebuild

wish i would of took a before picture. well the room is the smallest bedroom, 9 foot by 9 foot with a 10sqft closet

the room was the color you see, minus the white puddy
floor was as you see it
molding waist high all around the room - gone now
the floor molding was a 1/2 inch higher than floor level because it used to have carpet before i had the house- gone now
wooden closet doors - gone now
ceiling fan - gone
room used to have 4 recepticals 1 being on a switch for a lamp i guess

heres how far i got...









well i finally got the electrical done, except for the lights but those arn't going up until its painted.

now i have 22 recepticals (plugs), some at 4 foot 6 inches high for stacking tanks and racks, the 2-gang boxes (ones with 2 plugs) are wired into the 2 timers, left side being on during the day, right side being on during the night. for breaded dragon or any other animals that needs, uvb during the day and/or different heat source at night. the single gang (1 plug) have power all the time.

my lighting will be 3x 4 foot fixtures that hold 2 bulbs each, 2 fixtures will be wired directly into the day timer to provide day light for the whole room. and the last fixture will have eigher blue or Infer-red bulbs in it, wired to the switch by the door for night time viewing, but not to disturb the animals.

plans also include making the closet hold a baby rack for breaded dragons, refinish the floor (first time doing this... ut oh), new floor molding, paint

I loved building my reptile room, can't wait to outgrow it so I have to build a bigger one!

well guess ill update, put up the floor molding, sanded the floor, will be ready for stain tommorow, build the baby breaded dragon rack, ill have room to have 2 more levels when needed. ill post another update after floors done and paints up, gimme about a week.

Those heat lamps directly over the tubs wont trap too much heat, for either a fire hazard or safety hazard to the beardies will they? I'd just be worried about that, otherwise it looks good!

they just need a hot spot of around 105, not worried about trapping heat, the room is a constant 80+ anyways, its no different than a regular breaded setup, just open top instead of a screen (whats the difference really) and the uv light covers all 3 cages. if anything its safer than the current setup we have, no lights to move around when we want to open the cage.

the only fire hazard would be my wiring, and being a electrician i would hope i get it right lol ill be sure to let you know how it works out.

and i stained the floor today, well accually my girlfriend did and it was done b4 i got home from work so later today ill be laying down some poly yay

Where did you get those timers that operate the outlets. Also could you give a little information on how those work with the outlets. I an in the process of turning my basement into a large rep room. I have installed many outlets (cant every have to many) but I still wasnt sure how I wanted to do it. Those timers seem like just the thing I need.

I may have to redo my wiring that i have already done now.
