    Caution with Mites..

So now that I have my BP I need to be more careful in terms of my level of interaction with the BP's at the stores. One has mites and I am currently treating him. I am just wondering what I need to do to make sure my BP doesn't get them. Is changing my clothes and washing my hands enough or should I shower before going into the same room/becoming in contact with my snake/his enclosure?

    Thanks.

Perhaps order a can of "provent a mite" and treat its cage. Then of course, wash hands, change clothes, etc.. after playing with other snakes. Good lvck

PAM isn't available in Canada. I am treating him, unfortunately, with Mite Off. It'll take a while but it is working thus far - I'll just have to keep at it.

Will the mites travel in my hair or anything like that? That is what I am most concerned with.

ALL of my snakes but one got mites. IT SUCKED! OMG, be SO careful. Seriously this is awful stuff. We got rid of the damn things but it took forever and tons of work and wasted bedding and bleaching tanks and lids and bottles and bottles of Mite Off.

PAM should be available at the upcoming expo in Mississauga.

Really? I'll be attending the expo. I'll see if I can snatch up a can.

But I will try to be careful, maybe put my hair in a shower cap or something while handling him. Then I will wash up and change my clothes when I get home.

The snakes at a lot of pet stores have mites. IMO, the best thing is not to take them out at that store anymore. If one snake has them, chances are many of them do.

Um.. Kinda hard since I am in charge of taking care of all of the animals, lol. I work at the Pet Store. None of our other reptiles have mites.

I'm not positive but I do believe Port Credit Pets sells it and I've seen a few other vendors with it.
