1st pooosssttt..

So I just got my new BP today.
Her name is Anubis, I am already in love with her.
She's 8 months old, and I got her as part of a rehoming situation.

One question though;
Is there any type of wood that is unsafe to use in her tank? (Other than cedar and pine...and FTR, I use reptibark for substrate) She has a branch in there (from previous owner) that she really seems to like. It's Arbutus. Apparently it's been in there for months, and it seems to not be problem, I'm just wondering if I should replace it.

Aspen is a good substrate, some use printed or unprinted newspaper.
You will find lots of info in the BP sticky section & informative posts.

I have the t-rex sani chips in my tank. I think it is basically square cut aspen. However, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. First off, it sticks to anything wet, sticks to the sides of the tank, sticks to the snake, gets in the water bowl, its just a pain. And secondly I find that it doesn't allow the transfer of heat from the bottom of the tank to the top of the substrate.
