blackish hognose ?
while cutting grass today I came across a almost black hognose. if it was not for the nose part I would of thoguh t it was a young black snake. I bagged it until later today . I plan on relaesing it tonight oncei got a pic of it to post. this is the 1st time i seen one dark like this..

lol it funny cause I can't go much farther east without moving north or swiming in the ocean .. I picked up dozen of the light colored hognoses over the years. This the first blackish one i seen I got a pic as well below
when outside it not as dark as he apeared in the trailer when I first took it out. I had just grabbed and placed inside the snake bag before my help had a heart attack.

eastern hognoses are very variable in appearence. They range from lighter colors similar to the western, to olive green, to black. Good chance the other guys that you've found are eastern's too.

I used to find those really dark hognoses here in Michigan.

I lived in Muskegon and Grand Haven as a kid. I used to find them in Hoffmaster State Park. Big suckers too, like up to ~4', and really dark like the one in the picture. That was 20 years ago. I haven't seen any real dark ones in years.
