Problem sheds!!
Ok before I start let me just say I have tried the bath in the bad shed no problem sticky and a few others to no avail! My female Albino shed lastnight it was a full shed except her head?? I tried soaking and the towel thing but she won't let me near her head. Also my male Albino has had an eye cap for a few weeks and tried everything for him including the tape thing but wasn't too comfortable with that method so didn't continue. The nearest vet that I found on the net is in another city sort of close by but not when I don't drive. I have been keeping the humidity on the high side of 70-75% for these two in hopes they will get it off on their own. I was gonna wait for the male with the eye cap to see if it comes off with the next shed but am worried that if it don't he could go blind in that eye. Is this true?? Any other suggestions??? I will try anything!! Thanks for all the help!

Re: Problem sheds!!
I would seriously consider the trip to your vet. Obviously conventional mehtods aren't working to get the dead skin off. I don't know of many snakes who like having thier heads touched. None of mine do, that's for sure. Did you try a Q-Tip to remove the eyecap? I have used a dampened Q-Tip before and had great success with that method. To me, it would be worth the trip to the vet with both snakes though, just to make sure.

Yeah my brother and i tried the wet Q-tip last week but it seems like it is stuck. So I am gonna call a vet tomorrow and set up an appointment.

Re: Problem sheds!!
my bp kept a eyecap one time he shed. I called my friend over who is a herpetologist because i was worried about it, he basically said not to worry unless it didnt come off with the next shed, which .. it did.

Re: Problem sheds!!
Yeah, I would. Even here in the bp faq it says it's nothing to worry about really unless it lasts through a couple sheds. I personally wouldnt worry too much until his next shed then if it doesnt come of I'd at least call a vet.
6. How do I remove eyecaps that have remained after a shed?
The wisest course is to simply leave them alone. Some people advocate a bit of scotch tape or a Q-tip to remove them, but it is far too easy to damage the delicate eye. Most likely, the snake himself will rub them off within a few days of the shed. And if not, they will come off in the next shed. Eyecaps that have remained through multiple sheds should be attended by a vet.
