    85 tub hatchling rack

This is a Do It Yourself guide on how we converted an IKEA wardrobe into a 85 tub hatchling rack with vision tubs.
The wardrobe we used was a PAX wardrobe from IKEA. It comes in white, oak, grey, and black/brown.
Including with all the shelves, thermostat, heat cable and tubs this racks costs around €500.

Okay, first off the wardrobe and the shelves were to deep for the tubs to fit properly, therefore I cut 11 centimeters from the back of the shelves and the wardrobe.

We used a heat cable for this rack and to hold it in place under the tubs we milled the bottom off each shelve to make room for the heat cable. You don’t have to run the cable more than once over the shelve to get good heat for your baby snakes.
We made a 90 degree turn for the cable in the corner of each side of the shelve so that the cable can go out and up to the next level in the rack. Some people like to run the cable trough the walls of the inside of the rack, but if the cable breakes you have to take the whole thing apart. This way you can just roll the rack out and change the cable.

When you're done with the all the cutting just follow the instructions on how to ensemble the wardrobe. Don’t mind the back piece, you'll need it in the next step.

When you’re done, saw the back piece the same size as on of the shelves. You will need this to make some room between the tubs and each shelve.
Place the tubs on the bottom shelve and the pre cut back piece over them. Then just lay the next shelve on top of everything and screw it in place. Don’t use to thick screws, it will break the shelves.
It can be a little tricky to see where to put the screws, but just do some measuring and it will go much easier.

Continue to do this all the way to the top. We were two shelves to short so we had to go to IKEA the next day to get some more.

When you’re done with all the shelves, lay the rack down on the floor and screw the wheels in place. This construction is rather heavy so I decided i want 6 wheels instead of 4. I used two 45x45 millimeter pieces of wood and attached 3 wheels to each one and then attached the setup to the bottom of the rack. Screw it in place from the sides of the rack.

Now you're almost done. Turn the rack around and start work on the stops in the back so that the tubs cant slide out.
Take five strips of wood and screw it in place behind the tubs. Make sure not to use to wide strips so you can reach in to fix something with the heat cable in the future.
Remember to pre drill the holes so you won’t crack the wood. start with pre drilling the tops of the strips and screw them in place. Then drill the other holes when it's in place. Much easier that way then to measure everything.

When all the shelves are in place you will end up with a small space in the top of the rack. Measure how big it is and take one of the leftovers from the shelves and make it fit. Saw off the corner so that you can run the cables to the thermostat to the other side.

    Now you're all done!

I paid 2300 swedish krona for the wardrobe and the 17 shelves.
    That's like 280 USD.
