You don't love your Bloods....unless
You do this.
Follow these instructions and let the government know just how much they mean to you. This is not the time to be lazy or complacent. If you don't do it now, then when?

First of all, you were replying to a thread that was from before the subcomittee hearing.
Second, NO, it was not voted on, it was not rejected. At the subcommittee hearing, the bill's sponsor (Bordallo from Guam) admitted it needed work, so no vote occurred. Supposedly what is happening now is it is being worked on. When it resurfaces, it may or may not still be called HR 669. It may be that the "work" just involved adding a few more species to the exempt list, which IMHO doesn't make the bill any better, but will make it much harder to fight because all those people with guinea pigs and hamsters will no longer be fighting with us. It may be that what emerges next is a beautifully written, well thought out bill that I would totally support, but I'm not expecting that.
No one knows for sure, except maybe Bordallo herself. So be prepared to fight another round soon.

Well, it won't ever really be over, will it. They will keep coming up with things until they get rid of reptiles. Personally, there are a few bits and pieces of the bill that I agree with. First of all, I think importation should be further limited. Secondly, something does need to be done about those morons in Florida who set loose all the burms. Maybe permits could be required in order to own larger snakes.

Re: You don't love your Bloods....unless
Florida has already stepped up to the plate and put a permit system into effect for large constrictors. But that isnt going to completly stop the problem. Most of the people that release there animals are morons anyways so Im sure a law isnt going to stop them getting a burm just like in new york people still keep large snakes and monitors. But the whole burm population down there isnt just because of bad keepers. The problem with this bill is just because my burm could live in florida doesnt mean I could take my collection outside my house in south carolina and let them loose and they survive our winter. Theres no way
