    Newbie from Arizona

Hey guys and gals! I just recently picked up my first Ball Python a few weeks ago and have quickly become fascinated with the Ball Python world!

My current Ball Python was purchased as a personal pet. It is a 'normal' BP, approximately 3-4 months old. I haven't had it probed/popped, but I will soon. So far, I have fed it 3 live meals and it is currently going through it's first shed since I've owned it. It mainly stays in it's hide(cave) during the day, but loves to come out and explore at night and has been very accepting to handling. Currently, I have it in a 24Lx12Hx10W with a heating pad under his hide and a overhead light above his water dish. For his substrate I am using mulch. I replace about 25% of it every day with fresh substrate and fully clean the cage once a week. I have seen it relaxing and exploring all over the enclosure, so I feel it's gotten comfortable with it's new home. I'm going out soon to get him some plants and a bigger water dish. I've also been reading in the husbandry category and have decided to make some modifications to the tank, but so far I feel like I've got the hang of it!

I have been reading over the past few weeks and am becoming very interested in breeding. I'm hoping to start a small rack in the future and purchase a couple of adults to get started, but WHEW there is so much to learn.

    Thanks!

One thing I have been wondering since I've been lurking here is the 1.0, 0.1, 2.1, etc... in peoples signatures, what does this refer to?

    Welcome PythonKing from Arizona!

It's an indicator of what sex distribution you got with the first number as the male, 2nd as female, and 3rd as unknown.

So, since you don't know what sex your bp is you would have a 0.0.1 normal ball python. If you have 2 males, 1 female, and 3 unknowns, then you will have 2.1.3 normal ball pythons.

And for this information, you will have to ship me your Gibson.

By the way, I didn't know they already had bp's hatch in '09... or maybe you meant an '08 normal ball python that you purchased in '09?

Ok, I understand, thanks! I'm not giving up my Les Paul that easily though!

I may be mistaken on the year the snake was born. I made a guess on it's age based on it's size, so I could be wrong!

    Re: Newbie from Arizona

I'd prefer Ibanez over Gibson for playing metal and really fast solos... too bad I can't play fast solos.
