any states w/o permits
are there any states in the US that do not require you to have a permit to own HOTs? I mean HOTs like rattlers and cobras. In FL just about everything is a HOT! ive only found 2 not on this list (thought it was one but asked last night) western, and vine snake.

if I'm not mistaken I believe in PA all hots are legal but I'm not sure if you need a permit to have one or not I know the only legal hot in NV is the albino western diamondback and the mexican beaded lizard

In Texas I think we can keep native hots (rattlers, cottonmouths, etc.) without a permit, but no cobras or other non-native hots.
You know you're into reptiles when...

^I can see why you can't keep non-natives, I'm sure in some areas they would have a good chance of surviving in Texas.

in pa you dont need a permit for hots, but cities can ban hots so you will have to check the local laws

Re: any states w/o permits
I am not aware of any permits for snakes in S.D., except for Sioux Falls. From what I could find the last time I looked it was legal to own hots in the rest of the state.
*note* I have not done a lot of research on this.

Re: any states w/o permits
From all the reading I've done, Minnesota does not require permits, but they are banned pretty widely at the city level, so you'd have to live out away from people.

PA- I used to live there, and the only limits there are according to my knowledge, is how many hots you can take from the wild. Also, there mmay be different ordinanaces in the city, like Philly.

In NC, you don't need a permit unless you wish to keep protected native venomous species. In SC you don't need a permit at all.

I read somewhere that you needed a fishing license to keep native venomous in SD.
