    sexing mix up!

I went out today and bought 2 more female mice so I'd have 3 f 1 m. The pet store I got the 2 from told me both were females but it turned out only 1 was. So I went to feed the male to my ball( breeder said to try live as he's bing a picky ball right now) to see if he'd eat it since he won't eat and I dropped it and he dissapeared! The cats going to get it since I can't find him. How can a pet shop not notice the balls! They were huge. Balls= male simple as that. Well atleast now I have 2 females now.

Or they sex them at a fairly young age and before all there balls develop fully, which can make it difficult. As a rule of thumb, never trust anyone on anything as far as sexing animals unless you see it with your own eyes.

There is also the fact that a male can pull their testicles up inside their body, and is likely to do it if they are scared or startled, such as when roughly picked up or picked up by the tail, as is likely to happen with a pet store employee. If you look closely, you will still notice an extra wrinkle or two of skin that is the empty scrotum, but a casual glance from a pet store employee who doesn't care is likely to miss it.

Or just let them sit in your hand for a little while and if it's a male his genitalia will go back out.

I wouldn't trust anyone to sex mice for me. They can be sexed even before the (testicles) develop. It's easy, just look at a few thousand.

I'm not going back and trusting the pet store as it's a waste since a grown mouse is too big for my corns. I'll have to keep a few female babies when I have a litter.
