Re: here we go building a 4 cage rack
looking good but i will point out a couple problems( in my book)
1 that will not go around corners or up stairs very well.
2 it will take at least 2 if not possible 3 people to move that hug sucker.
3 that doors for the front will need with to be sliding glass (which suggest some metal U tracks to ride in as well as some locking type device) unless your setting it up to hold tanks I am just glancing at the pictures mostly lol..
4 in my book i set th vents ot one side of the unit with an opengi /closing type 9 liek the old wood stoves ) to control the amount of air movement in and out to prevent drafts and uneven heating..
I also switched to rack to prevent the issues I had with my cages ( mainly being space since they measusred 4ft*2ft*2ft and it took 2 grown men to move them ( since i not able to lift them due ot my cp i hadto pay 2 people to move them for me )

Re: here we go building a 4 cage rack
thanks man if i ever move out of this house and well when i do im gonna have to build another rack cause my boa well be hugh by then so prolly build a 6x2x2 or 6x3x2 and put my bp on top of that. hopefully ill have a boat load of them so i have to make a hugher rack, but ill make it where that one comes apart in sections. but for doors, i was thinkin of door that swing out cause it much cheaper then buyin U racks which i cant find anywhere.
do you know where i can find U tracks that will hold two plexiglass panels and a lock for them???? if so tell me know so i can go get them. i rather have sliding doors then swinging doors
get back to asap or send me a PM or if you have the info i need email me at timderiksen@gmail.com
one more thing its not that heavy just 4 1/4 sheets of 1/2" birch plywood hahahahahahahahahaha its a beast

Re: here we go building a 4 cage rack
I just want to point this out, but that seems like a mighty fire hazard with all of those heat lamps, squished in between the wood enclosures like that. And that the top enclosures would get extremely warm from the rising heat, not to mention, lamps themselves would put out a lot of heat in one area, imagine all of that heat rising and overheating the top levels lights.
Unless you're doing it just for a small coil flourescent light.... just for light.
I can't see it being very safe.

what????? them lamps dont get that hot also if you say heat rises, in which it does, then you dont really have to heat the other cages as much cause it already warm.
i have a 2 cage rack in my room right now and never had a problem. everything is well ventilated. my bottom cage had 4 vents all adjustable. I have experimented with opening and closing different vents and what the response is i found out if you put one vent on the top where your day time heat lamp is and then one on the bottom where then cool side is. then you get a good circulation of air in the cage. like you said heat rises
so thanks for your thoughts if my house catches on fire you will be the first to know ahahhahahhahahahha

Connie was offering you constructive criticism. Which is what you seem to be asking for consistently...
