Re: 18 foot snake attacks child in Las Vegas
*Sighs*
On one hand I wish they would make stricter restrictions on owning large snakes, Like for instance Lisences, permits, screening people who want or are owning large constrictors. And on the other hand I am like, well there goes the hobby.

Of all the tyrannies a tyranny executed for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. for it may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busibodies. For a robber baron's cruelty may cease; his cupidity may at some poitn be sadiated. But those who torment us for out own good do so without ceasing because they do so with the approval of their conscience. ~C.S. Lewis

Re: 18 foot snake attacks child in Las Vegas
In Florida you have to be certified to own a snake over 8 feet. It's a new law from probably 2 years or less ago.

BP owner since Oct 2008, so yeah, I'm no expert.
0.1.0 pastel bp
1.0.0 spider bp
0.1.0 albino bp
1.0.0 bumblebee bp
1.0.0 yellowbelly bp
0.0.1 normal bp
1.0.0 normal western hognose
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Most people should be.
I don't think kids should be allowed around these snakes. I didn't let my 5 year old cousins around my 10' retic. Even while I was there. They're too powerful and will take advantage of any situation given the opportunity.
How this snake got out of the cage, who knows. They probably didn't have a lock on the cage. Or hell, I've even heard of retics escaping locked cages. What was a child was doing in a room with an 18' snake? That door should be locked. That lady's lucky she heard her child scream. Had she been outside, I doubt she would have heard it and bye bye baby.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat
