    Trouble switching to ASF

So I have a female that refuses to eat ASF. My other three bp's switched from rats with no problem. She just doesn't seem interested in them. The 1st time i gave her one she struck and constricted it but never ate the ASF. Since then she has refused and will only eat normal rats.

Has anyone every had trouble switching from rats to ASF?

I was under the impression that ball pythons loved these things.

I think we only have a handful of snakes out of 35 or so that will always take ASF's. Some always outright refuse, some like to switch, but generally it's not the end all favorite item for BP's in my experience.

Darn, I was hoping to get them all over to ASF because I recently started up a colony . I guess I'm just going to have to continue getting rats for her.

I'd say keep trying, patience is key. If she really just does not switch, then she may never will. You can try and trick her into eating by scenting it with regular rat etc etc, until she just makes the switch.

I was thinking about putting the ASF in with some used rat bedding before I offer it. I did that once when I was switching from mice to rats.

Yea I have no idea. It was the weirdest thing when she did it. She started trying to eat it then just gave up. It's only happened that one time, I hope it doesn't become a regular thing.
