    Didn't expect this...

Was refilling my spiders water bowl when all of a sudden he lunged at me and bit my thumb. Surprised he actually hit me, he's a bad striker with a horrible wobble...

-Smiles.- We usually don't expect these kinds of things. Great looking spider and nice looking bite.

I was trying not to downsize that, thank you. It does look like a little kiss, though. ^_^

    Re: Didn't expect this...

Can't say this is the worst bite I've had. Was taking shed off a friends 2,000+ gram female and she latched right onto my calf. Had my biggest girl with like 1/3 of my hand in her mouth. This one was just a huge shocker because it's HIM. Can't really put it any other way. Kinda like the quiet kid at school screaming his head off.

    Unhappy Re: Didn't expect this...

    Spider bite!

my worst was when i was feeding my adult male.

WARNING - THE FOLLOWING STORY IS FROM A TIME WHEN I WAS EXTREMELY STUPID AND UNEDUCATED IN THE HUSBANDRY OF BALL PYTHONS. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

i held the rat on my stomach before i fed my bp. then i put the rat in a plastic tub i used to use to the snake in. then i picked up the snake to move him into the tub with the rat. BAM! he lunged at my stomach. his tiny teeth went through my t-shirt and one lodged in my stomach. it didn't hurt me, but he did lose a tooth and i felt horrible about it.

That was my first, last, and only bite in 5 years. Some people got to learn the hard way!

Wash your hand with cold water before manipulating or clean cages or feed

Never got bitten since I started doing this. But when you keep a lot of snakes, you better just use gloves and it usually work really good. Or get bitten with bare naked hands

At least it was a baby ball, not a GTP, ETB, retic or o ther kinds like that

    Re: Didn't expect this...

Usually when the quiet ones bite me it's when I'm showing them off to someone right after I've said something like, "this is a really mellow one who is great to handle because he never bites...."
