What do you feed your cat?

At the moment, both of my cats get Purina. (One gets Kitten chow, the other gets the 'adult' food in the blue bag.) And once a day when I get home, the kitten gets a fourth of a can of wet cat food. Every once in a while they both get treats of bits of meat and my adult cat's favorite, tuna juice. Should I consider switching foods or does this sound fine? What kind of foods do you feed your cats?

you wanna stay away from wet food it rots the teeth. you also wanna stay away from foods that use fillers and by-products they serve no purpose exect to save them money and fill your litter box faster, plus you have too feed them more to equal the same nutrients that you would get out of less of a better food.

    i feed nutro natural choice

We feed our cats Innova Evo. We've tried Felidae (they hated it) and Chicken Soup (they loved the taste), but it seems like Innova Evo is their favorite, even though it's a bit expensive.

Re: What do you feed your cat?

More recent studies have shown that wet food doesn't rot their teeth It's also a more natural diet for a cat.

If that's working for your cat, then that's fine. I personally feed my cats a grain-free diet, but I'm not one of those people who try to shove their food beliefs on other people.

FYI, Nutro uses lots of fillers too. My friend is a Nutro rep and always tries to get me to switch but I refuse because I don't like the quality of their food. I feed Orijen dry and supplement with Wellness, Evo, and Instinct wet food.

Re: What do you feed your cat?

Dry food can have a lot of carbohydrates which aren't natural to a cat's diet (since they're obligate carnivores). That being said, if a diet is working for you and the cats are happy and healthy, I wouldn't worry too much.

I feed my cat Nature's Variety raw medallions and some Wellness canned food.

People really need to do their research before they offer advice to others. Wet food does not rot their teeth. *Sigh*

aahmn My cat will eat ANYTHING! Seriously, I was eating cheetos one night and dropped one, guess who was right there to scarf it! What a piggy. Anyway, that being said, I do like Nature's Variety and think that it is part of a good sound diet (for my piggy at least).

I've been feeding my cat rocks so it will be harder for him to swim.

Re: What do you feed your cat?

basically when selecting a food, you want to look at the first 4 ingredients. ideally you want those 4 to be some sort of meat product with the first ingredient being "chicken" or whatnot. you absolutely want to avoid foods that have corn or corn meal in the those first 4 ingredients.

a good brand, if you can find it is "chicken soup for the cat lover's soul". its made with fresh chicken and has an excellent ingredient list. plus its relatively cheap. usually its only found at feed stores, but if you check the website they have a store locater feature.

i recently switched my cats off eukanuba to a different brand, whose name i can't remember atm. i got it from petsmart and after looking around it had the best ingredients.
