first bite and a runner
I'm ticked. Chewout where the top of tub was just ever so slighty cracked and hubby didn't think was problem. Went to clean and three pairs of eyes staring at me from behind the tub. Got two easily, but also got a bite (only one glove, on other hand)
He's on the floor now, I have him blocked with the critter keeper on one end with seeds in it. Hope he'll be an easy catch, if not, the cat has been wanting in there badly. I really need to catch it though, if it's a girl I need to keep it.
Otherwise, it's someone's food tonight.

well, caught it fairly quickly and she's really lucky! if it had been a boy, down the hatch. I've spent all night, making a new tub and watching them. Crazy little things.

Re: first bite and a runner
I had one escape on me, dropped it in the snake tub and once it hit the tub it bounced right back out and ran for the door out of my snake room.
It couldnt of come at a worse time as I was heading to work and was working a double so it was loose in my house for 48 hours. Needless to say the wife wasnt happy.
I bought some of those stickey traps and that night I heard it dragging the thing around in our family room.

Glad you caught it, as for getting bitten im sorry, i hate being bitten by rodents. I havent been bitten by my asf's yet (knock on wood), they are supposed to be really aggressive after the first litter, but both male and females are still pretty easy going with me. Believe it or not, they allow me to move thier babies around so i can count them, and they dont try to bite me or anything. As time goes on maybe that will change

I think it depends largely on the line. I was very lucky to get some that had apparently been bred to be docile and I can collect their pinkies at cleaning time without getting bit.
I did have one from a different colony just walk up and bite my thumb once. It was deep and painful. He was my test feeder and went over well.

I had one escape to the basement once, but unfortunatley the cat got to him first...
I'm not afraid of snakes, because I got Balls!

I have to remember though, I wasn't in the cage, she was on the shelf and I was trying to catch her. I wouldn't have felt bad feeding it off, that's what I'm raising them for. I really wasn't ready to start my bp on them yet, until I have a steady supply. But I did get 90% of them sexed and will be setting up colonies today. I try to talk to them every day, which works cause they are in the bath. Most were really docile last night, I just started the whole thing upset, cause I told him that little tiny place was going to be a problem. At least I was right on something.

I wouldn't have felt bad if I'd done it either.
