possible injury question?
I received a large normal female on the 3rd. she was in shed when i received her. when i pulled her out of the bag, she was stressed and striking left and right. her eyes were completly opaque. i put a rock hide in the tub for her to hide and to aid in her sheding. when i placed her in tub, she darted to the rock hide and curled up in it extremely fast. i checked on her daily and after she shed i noticed some areas that were pinkish after her shed. the picture below is one of the larger areas where there are several of these pink spots. the picture makes them look more brown than pink though.
not sure what the deal is here. im thinking it is some scraping from the rock hide. she also went through a bad shed, probably from a combined stress from moving and a somewhat dry area. the humidity in my room says 70% but im sure that drops when the space heater kicks on.
the temps are 90 in the warm end and 79-80 in the cool end. she is in a rack set-up with belly and a pannel of side heat. i did it that way becasue it is a combo rack with two different sized tubs and the larger tubs are longways. in no way is this a burn. like i said i think it was an injury. my question is do i start treating her with onitments and something like hydrogen peroxide?
sorry for the long post and thanks for any help

Re: possible injury question?
looks like a possible bit mark from another snake, or possibly a bad feeding experience with a rat or mouse. I would get it checked out by a vet. I personaly have never had to deal with something like that. But if the situation did arise I would go to the vet.

That is a scale injury.
Keep a close eye on it, and if it gets worse and spreads, take it to the vet.
If not, just watch it, keep it clean, and let her shed it out.

Re: possible injury question?
No peroxide! It damages healthy tissue too. Only good for getting blood stains out.
Use some chlorhexidine or just some mild soapy warm water. Then rinse, let dry and apply neosporin/polysporin.
Looks like beginnings of scale rot. Keep dry and warm(92-94 warm spot, 82-84 cool spot), 50% humidity or so. Don't let her soak.

I'm not a super experienced snake keeper, so I don't have any suggestions for what it might be. But I wanted to post and say that I love your ring. It's very neat looking. Best of luck with getting her better!
