    strange/miss marked markings? pics inclosed

heres Springroll, is it normal for a siamese/hemmy (not sure which?) to have a darker patch of fur on the top of their heads?

this last pic really shows how dark it is, the flash kinda whited the other pics out a little.

would she be considered a high white because of the light cream in between the nose & head that kinda looks maskish? she isn't white, shes like a cream. i hope not as she's a hold back that i hoped on introducing to Eggroll (male siamese). Could she just be a miss marked one?

    thoughts/opinions?

heres a pic taken last month of Mr. Eggy in case some of you forgot what he looks like. he has a teeny bit of color traveling up his head head but nothing like Springrolls. Hmm....

They are probably hooded or bareback, so the only coloring from the siamese trait you see is on the nose and head area. Also, it could be the porphryn staining from when they clean their face.

I honestly dont know of any marking that would leave pigmented area on the nose, but not on the eyes.

Wait a month or two, see if they lose that color.

I honestly dont think it would be porphyrin, I have yet to see even the tiniest bit of red in her nose/eyes. I sometimes see a little here and there with some of the others, but not her (yet anyway)

I dont get it, it's strange... she is definitely pointed but has extra color on her dome lol

Porphyrin is the lubricate for their eyeballs, so it's there and also in their nose. When they wash their face it gets on their hands, and eventually back up to their head as they wash themselves.

I would just keep it in mind, but wait it out anyways. I'll go take a closer look at my himalayans and siamese to see if any of them have it directly on top of their head like that...

Re: strange/miss marked markings? pics inclosed

I found someone online who has a rat kinda sorta like mine.

http://ansbrook.co.uk/ansbrook/Rat%20Gallery.htm if you look at the rats named Stephanie and AshLee, the smaller one has "extra color" (for lack of better words). looks kinda like a hooded but with siamese markings. where mine looks kinda like a siamese/capped.

do you think it could have anything to do with the deworming? the stuff was called droncit. it was injected between the shoulder blades, not way up by the top of her head tho, so I guess that wouldn't make any sense.

i will keep my eyes on her, it might just be something fluky that she will shed out. but so far the spot on her head seems to be getting darker as she ages.

    PS
im very interested to know if any of your siamese/hemmy ratties have this. let me know when ya get the chance

Re: strange/miss marked markings? pics inclosed

In the second pair of pics, the smaller rat is definitely a hooded siamese, or what some call "triamese".

Yours very well could be hooded, or not. The thing with siamese is their color is temperature dependent, in cooler months or settings, they will have darker points. Or when they moult for the first time their heads look pretty funny.

It's hard to say, I think she'll likely grow out of it, but I will take a close look at what siamese I have at home. I'm thinking the himalayans dont show any of that but it wont hurt to check them out too.

I'm going to go ahead and say that she'll grow out of it. I know this is a poor picture, but she does have the dark spot.

    And her later...

They don't have any darker head spots now, then again, all my siamese are full grown too.
