Is this safe for my snakes???

I want to build a few tanks and a rack...i hear about people using different types of PVC ... and i wanted to know if the expanded PVC is safe for my snakes? If used as a display setup, would i have any heating issues? Would 1/2" be too thick or too thin for UTH? Is there a specific sealant i can use for the tanks?

    Thanks for the feedback!

Many racks and enclosures are made with expanded PVC, so you shouldn't have any problems. 1/2" is a little thick for heat from an UTH to get through, but I think it depends on what is on the other side of the pad. You can do some preliminary testing to see how warm you have to get the UTH in order to maintain a comfortable temp on the other side of the PVC.

Another option would be to use a radiant heat panel. They are usually placed in wood cages, but it should be fine for PVC and you probably won't have to run it nearly as warm as an UTH.

I use all RHP's in my cages from Reptile Basics (pvc) and they work really well!!!
