    siamese surprise!!! (pic)

So I've had my rats established and breeding for quite some time. As of right now, I only have been using one male. (1.4)

They always threw lots of selfs or irish w/ just a few hoodeds. Blues, blacks and a few shades of beige. So I assumed I'd seen all the possibilities that they could produce..

All of a sudden, Siamese ratties popped up! And no new breeders have been added. Looks like some were blue point too but um.. they aren't around anymore.

I got more siamese than the regular colors/patterns thats normally produced! it was just like BAM here we are!!

It's cool seeing hidden genes show up.. Now if some hidden genes popped up w/ my balls, that would be awesomely awesome!!! hehehe

Meet Eggroll, our siamese dumbo boy that we are holding back as a pet and future breeder. he didn't wanna sit still and wanted off the bed lol I chose to keep him as he was very friendly and I loved his markings the best.

Siamese are my favorite. I had a female for the longest time but I never got any Siamese babies. Now I have a male and hopefully some of her (died a couple years ago) genes are still around go give me some Siamese babies.

    Eggroll is adorable!

Im sure its in there somewhere and with time it will pop up! I've never had a siamese b4 but they are freakin cute!!! I can see why they are your fave!

its just so strange... all the past litters and none and then BAM 3 of the 4 females produced them all within weeks of each other! and like I said, theres been no new breeders added. Just goes to show ya, not to give up on possible het balls so easily!

tho I am keeping 1.2 from these litters. a grey female we've named Dumpling, a siamese female named Springroll and of course Eggroll. the females are still really young, so it will be a while b4 they will be old enough to breed. I get so attached to them, its so hard at times when it comes to feeding day..

Ooo, I was so happy when I got my first real siamese. I had been getting himalayans for a while from a couple of girls, but then I got my first wee dark little siamese! It's amazing the color change they go through as they age. They start out so dark and turn a nice cream color with those dark dark points. Siamese are my favs!!

Yeah, I've got one siamese right now. She just had a litter of 18! It's funny because I bred her to my fawn male and we got a whole litter of black selfs and black hooded babies . She's a very protective mother and I've taken a couple bites from her but once her babies are weaned she goes right back to being one of my sweetest rats. I'm hoping someday we can get a couple of siamese babies from her

so would you agree he is a siamese? i get so confused between the Siamese and Himalayans. he's obviously not a perfect one as I dont think he has color on his feet, maybe its just not showing up yet because he's upstairs where its way warmer? but..he's super sweet

I would say so, he doesn't have the faded nose I see when I look at my himalayan.

Himalayan (They are creamy colored when pups, and gradually get a bit darker)

And a couple of my Siamese girls. One is a russian blue point siamese, and the other two are seal point siamese. This was during early spring, so they have lost a lot of color, but will most likely put it back on during the winter.

Thanks! I love the siamese pattern, it's definitely one of my favs.

The blue girl is only a shadow of what her brother looks like. His points are BLUE!

Oh, btw, they did really well with pictures. Just use a small surface area, and take a lot of pictures!!! Oh and a drop of vanilla for them to smell.
