    Question Any other ways...

    Hello everyone!
This is my first breeding attempt and I have a question. Which are the ways that I can tell that my female is pregnant?
I have noticed that one of my females has like a little pear shape going on. But it doesn't look too big yet. Are there any other ways to tell?
    Thanks!

Just wait a week or two. They'll show up.
Or you could lightly palpate her lower stomach sides and see if you can feel lumps. Generally, you'll be able to feel something. :]

    Re: Any other ways...

I'd leave her alone. Trying to feel her stomach can be dangerous to any would be babies, plus it's terrifying to mommy mouse. I haven't met a mouse yet who's tame enough to put up with having it's tummy pinched and prodded.

Definitely just wait two weeks. If you think she's prego now then in two weeks it will look like she swallowed a golf ball. It's not fool proof sometimes they have a very small litter and don't get that big but usually you'll see it.

If you want to be sure of having mouse babies leave the male in with her till the two week mark, if you plan on removing him. If you're keeping a permanent colonie just be patient, you don't need to do anything but sit back and watch them produce.

3 week gestation doesn't sound like very long, but it can seem like forever, huh?

I was going to say the exact same thing.....only with 2 golf balls. I'll have to look for pics of some of my mice when I had them. Some of the females were almost as wide as my hand.
