Uber newbie question - snake hiding

Well... actually this post is because my new BP isn't hiding. She has been here for a week now exactly, and in the last three days she is lounging out in the open almost every time I walk in the room whereas when I first got her she was in the hide box constantly.

Is this a good sign? Does that mean she may be settled in? Hungry? Feeding attempt #1 is tomorrow night.

I just shot my cage temps and they are ok. Mostly she hangs out on the cooler side. Her skin temp is approx 80 deg F.

I am used to my leopard geckos that i hardly ever see out, so this is different for me.

Just feed her tomorrow night and see how it goes. If she settled into her hide for a few days and is now out and about it may be because she is roaming in search for food.

Constant roaming day and night can be a sign of stress though. If she's stressed she most likely will not eat. Good luck tomorrow with your first feeding attempt.

I guess I'm wondering more about your snake's environment. You mentioned the temps are okay; can you share what the temps are? Is the snake in a cage or tank or tub? Two hides? Low traffic area? Etc....

As was mentioned, a ball python who is active all day long, day after day, could be signs of stress. They typically don't come out much in the daytime at all- even if they're hungry....

she lives in a 16qt tub upstairs in a spare bed room where i keep my leopard geckos and grow my Nepenthes so it is low traffic.

The warm side is in the mid 90s and the cool side is in the upper 70s. There is an RBI plastic "small" hide on both the warm and the cool side of the tub.

I wouldn't say she is "roaming" around constantly. When I went in there she was just laying around, but not in the hides.

She has a water dish also that i change regularly.
