    Re: To cold?

I would say so. My mice do well in mid 70's temps. I have noticed a major drop off in production and an increase in cannibalism since the temps have dropped into the 60's. We are working on getting the temps stabalized in the rat/mouse room but its in the basement so its a little more difficult.

    Yeah, 60 is too cold.

Think what feels good to us in a t-shirt and bare feet feels good to them.

Not us in a sweater, jeans, and socks.

they're resilient little creatures and will more than likely survive at lower temps at least for a few night. It's just that they'll probably refuse to breed/raise their young unless brought up to a suitable temp.

Long term exposure to cold will eventually cause illness and premature death.

But they should be fine overnight as long as they have bedding and each other to cuddle with.

    Re: To cold?

Mine breed the best in the winter, in the garage at around 60 degrees. If the water doesnt freeze in the bottle, they are fine. Mine all but stop production once temps get above 75 in there. Plenty of bedding is the key....they will make a little burrow and breed like, well, mice....LOL

Mice and Rats can handle cold very well. Its the heat that you have to worry about.

    Re: To cold?

They have plenty of bedding and i have a wooden box in each tub for them to all get inside. I think as long as I have the heater set to 65 they should be fine

Throw some pink fiberglass insulation in the cage. They will make a nest in about 2 minutes. Keeps'em toasty. Optimal temps are 68-78 for breeding.
