To all the black concrete tub rack users

I've finally decided to build one, based on this site. I'm just wondering if all you guys followed his EXACT measurements. They just seem a little off to me. I measured my tub to be 27.5" long, and according to his instructions the length of the frames will be exactly 27". 24" piece plus 3" from the two 2x2's (1.5x1.5) on each end. I've never heard any complaining about his plans, or about anyone altering them at all, so I assume you all use those plans and they work fine?

Lowe's and Home Depot each have their own brand of tubs. Each tub is a different size. I believe that the directions on that site are for Lowe's tubs.

there are two major manufactures, maccourt which he is using and plasgad which i think your using (home hardware ones) The plasgad ones are a little larger so I would adjust accordingly (27.5"x19.75"x6")

They are manufactured by MacCourt Products (www.maccourt.com), model number AT2606. They measure 26" x 20" x 6".

No matter what size the tub is, if you build the rack the same depth as the tub you wont have room for a stopper in the back. I have seen them with no stoppers but I like stoppers.

Ya I'm using the home hardware ones, that you recommended to me (can't thank you enough for that man) ok so I will adjust accordingly.

Make sure you leave no gap between the mesh and tubs, at first they will be tight but they will eventually slide easier.

One thing I recommend is to flip the rack upside down and use each tub as a reference for your tracks. I have noticed the rims of these tubs vary quite a bit. If you set the tracks to fit each individual tub you should have no problems with gaps.

I agree with this. I made mine with plywood for spacers and thought it was too tight and was going to re-do it. now it is smooth as silk..

Also when your installing the hardware cloth make sure the wires that come in contact with the tubs go in the same direction as the tubs slide, it likely is not a big deal but I find that it helps slide smoother. If your using woven hardware cloth i guess it wouldn't matter.

I kinda used those plans, pretty much just for the layout, then looked at the size of the tubs and went from there. Ill post some pics tonight, i only built a one thats 3 tubs high becuase i dont need as many rats.
