    What are these considered?

I am not good at identifying markings and I'm not sure what a high white is. Could you tell me what you think these are? I believe one is a blaze and the other a hooded. Would you recommend breeding the blaze?

They are both females and both dumbos. These are my girls that have been in QT for over a month. Both were gifts from LadyO (thanks Heather) and are doing great. I love them both and they will most likely be kept in the house as pets but I'd still like to breed them.

    Thanks for looking.

Those are considered "Cutie patooties".....I believe that is the technical term.

ROFLMAO that's great Judy lol. I believe the one on the right is a black hooded, the other one I couldn't be sure about but I'm sure Becky or Connie will chime in and let you know what they actually are

Looks like a masked and a hooded. If I am not mistaken the masked are consider high white. The hoodeds are fine.

Thanks, I thought black hooded too but the marking past the hood threw me off. Looking forward to hearing what Connie and Becky think.

Thanks! My feeling was high white too. They are sisters so I hope it will still be okay to breed the hooded?

    Re: What are these considered?

One is a masked, which is definitely high white. The other girlie is a mismarked bareback. She should be considered safe, but I would only breed her with solid males(berkies, hoodeds, selfs). I wouldn't breed the masked female.

Thanks Becky! Is it recommended that high white males not be bred too?

I have 4 males and only one is a self. I think I'll raise up a new self little boy.

    Re: What are these considered?

IMO I would breed both. I have bred all types of rats to all different types of males and haven't had a problem.

    Re: What are these considered?

One is a Black Masked and the other is a Black Hooded/Bareback.

The Masked is considered a high white rat. To be on the safe side, if you plan on breeding, I'd breed her to a self male.

Generally speaking, if you breed a high white to a self, you aren't going to have an issue with megacolon unless the self is recessive for high risk, high white. After seeing dozens of litters of Megacolon rats, I'm was on the safe side and always bred high white lines that are considered low risk for megacolon.
