Crested Gecko question
i got a Green Crested Gecko a week and 3 days ago. I have him in a 30 gla tank. I know that he is nocturnal and will sleep all day, but he is not really active at night, he has a 2 hids but does not use them...he gets under the water bowl or the moss. I am assuming he is stressed, could it be from the large tank?

Re: Crested Gecko question
How old is the gecko?
It is possible that he is stressed. Have you noticed him eating or drinking? Was he shipped to you?

Re: Crested Gecko question
no he was not shipped. I picked him of from a local breader. I have not seen him eat or drink but i know he has...i feed him crickets, baby food mixed with the crested gecko food. and i have to fill the bowl evernight and there are only 2 crickets left in his tank...i gave him 3. I dont think it died. I looked.

Re: Crested Gecko question
Do you know how old this gecko is?
Cresties change colors depending on the temperatures and mood. So you may have seen the gecko all stressed out when you purchased him, and now he is showing his normal colors.
Make sure the temps are okay - between 70-80. If you pick him up does he jump or is he limp?
If you are really concerned you may want to call the breeder you purchased him from.
I'm sorry I'm not more help, but it sounds like he's just settling in to me. (but I'm not an expert on cresties) I have 5 myself, and have found them to be extremely hardy animals. Usually they are only at their bright colors in the evening or when stressed.

Re: Crested Gecko question
well last night after I turned off his light and it got darker in the room he darkened up and was moving around his cage. I have not held him in the last few days..but when i did he would try and jump out of my hand...and move from hand to hand he was not limp...he is only 2 or 3 months old. so still young.

Re: Crested Gecko question
jumping, active geckos are generally healthy geckos, so that's a good sign at least
