Cheap, fast, easy and humane euthanasia
This would be more for someone with a small operation, who would just have to euthanize a small amount of rodents, or one at a time. It does work, I've been using this method to prekill for the cornsnake. Use a container for your killing mix, and a slightly larger container that can "house" the killing mix container and your rodent(s). Put baking soda in the kill mix container, then place this container into your larger container, add your rodents to the larger container, dump vinegar (white distilled) into the baking soda and close the container and wait. I honestly use sandwich baggies, because I've only been prekilling one at a time, however, I'm sure it would work with other types of containers, as long as you use enough baking soda/vinegar to fill the other chamber with co2.

This is the way I do it...or you can rig a Co2 canister to a tube and run it to a cooler.

While it works it is definitely messy and smelly, nothing like a CO2 chamber in my opinion , which can be done even for a few rodents (no mess, no smell fast and efficient!)

While the co2 tanks and dry ice are great, not everyone has access to them, or they may only want to kill a few rodents, and don't want to buy a tank or dry ice for occasional euthanasia. This is simply another option.

How much did the CO2 tank cost you? How long does it last?

My house? ... 13 snakes, 3 geckos, a tarantula, a boyfriend, a roommate (yes the roommate and boyfriend make the "animals" list), 3 cats, a roach colony and don't ask me to count the rodents.

you can get a 20oz like that new for around $20 and refills run $3-5 and if you look on craigslist you can get tanks cheap like less than $10

you fill it with water and it acts like a one way valve. it lets air exit through tube and the cantainer can be filled with co2 and wont let it back in

As a paintballer I have experience with co2 tanks. If you buy them used your going to want to check to see when you need a new hyrdo test. Stores won't refill the tank if its past its hydro test date.
My 2 cents.
