    Are they allergic to carefresh?

I'm curious... The 1.3 group I picked up a week ago was on aspen, and I now have them on carefresh.

The male's eyes seem to be a little gooky and closed up a little.

Is he just sick or do you think its allergies?

I sure hope its not contagious...

Carefresh is not the best substrate for rodents because it is VERY dusty. Likely the dust is getting into their eyes and causing irritation.

I keep all my animals on aspen and newsprint.

You can carefully use a pure eye drop (no weird additives or uses) to rinse his eyes and get them open. I've had to do that for rats in the past and it usually is all good after a couple of treatments.

I'd ditch the carefresh, it's just not worth the trouble.
