Question on weaning...
I see everyone seperates the boys from the girls when weaning...
But is this really nescarry if they will be fed off by the time they are sexually mature?
I'm thinking of just throwing the weaners in a 20 gallon long. Instead of 2 10s....
Let me know your thoughts?
Right now I got a 1.2 tro, with 2 litters down and another coming...
Going to pick another breeding trio up in a week as well and was hoping to use 2 10 gallons and 1 20 gal long for weaners....

You can keep them together. I only separate out girls I am going to grow up....

Re: Question on weaning...
I actually do a bit of both. I take the litters at weaning (about 3 weeks of age) and put them into an enclosure all together. About a month or so later whatever is still there and big enough gets seperated males and females. That way if I want to start another colony I can pick from the gender seperated enclosures. It also seems to lessen any problems as they mature since I do need large size ASF's for some of my bigger BP's.

Re: Question on weaning...
It all depends on how long you want them to grow before getting fed off.
If you put boy and girl babies together... and they are together long enough for someone to get pregnant... at that point you won't be able to add any new babies into that same grow out tub without fighting. Normally as soon as a pregnancy occurs, newcomers are no longer accepted.
I put the boys in one giant grow out tub, and the girls in another giant grow out tub. This allows me to constantly add new weiners to the tubs without any fighting. Each week I take out older ones that have been in the grow out tub a couple months and use them for my feeders. I can also at any time pull older guys and girls for new breeding groups.
Make sense?

Re: Question on weaning...
I have had pregnancies as early as 2 months 2 weeks old.
You just have to see what works for you by trial and error on the number of tanks. Too many variables to really make a guess at it for your situation.... size of snakes, how many they will eat each week, genetics of your asfs and how large their litters are. Just get what you can afford and experiment. The experimenting with different things is the fun part!!!!

Re: Question on weaning...
Personally I do not separate the ASF, they are generally fed off before they are ready to breed.
