Questions about Cedar (outside of the enclosure)

My mother recently gave me two hanging shelf systems to put in my closet after hearing me complain about being cramped in my room.

I was really excited, got home, opened it up and greeted by a strong smell of cedar. Sure enough, there are little decorative bits of cedar on each shelf, holding the fabric straight.

My question is - is cedar outside of my ball python's enclosure (about 4 feet from her tub) going to hurt her, or should I be more worried about direct contact than a little bit of fume from across the room? If it is something to worry about - would coating them in a polyurethane be enough to conceal the fumes (would hate to just throw the bits out, they look really nice in there)?

I would suggest moving the tub if at all possible, but the Cedar smell will also dissapate soon enough.

As long as it isn't in direct contact with the animal, it is more than likely okay.
