OUTSIDE PICS of the rescue red tails....

    Ok, names first tho...

Mira is the big one, the name means wonderful
    and
Naile is the small one, her name means tall and slender...

    First - Mira
im going to try and get a general weight on her later today... when mom comes back tho that way she can help me... its hard getting her out of the cage cause i have to lift her... i wish i had the money for a boaphile cage for her.... sliding her out would be so much easier... lol but im tapped out and i doubt i'll be able to afford them... ahha!

me next to her... [im about 5'6ish]

    her tail

    her head

    and her body shot

now Naile - ima get a weight on her in a few mins... shes my easy child

    head one

    head two

    top of head

    body in the sun...

    then some others

now, will the smaller one get really dark like the big girl?
and also, how do i tell what kind of red tail they are specifically?
cause i know colors differ depending on the local and stuff...

any way, comment them please =]

Oh my goodness they get big!!! I think red tails are one of the most beautiful snakes! I would love to have one if I didn't own three cats and a Chihuahua! They are my babies!

That's smaller one is absolutely gorgeous!

Wow!! The big girl makes you look teeny!!!!!
While a lot of bci's (common Columbian) get darker with age, there is a lot of variation among individual snakes. It looks like the small girl has less speckling and is just cleaner looking than the big girl and makes me think that she'll not get as dark as the big girl.
They are beautiful and kudos to your parents for their support in this adventure!!

Re: OUTSIDE PICS of the rescue red tails....

    Very nice looking girls!

I'm going to make an educated guess and say they are Bci, probably Colombians.

To be a 100% on what spp. and locale you had, there are several factors. The subcaudal, dorsal and ventral scale count differ from spp. Then they count saddles, look at head shapes and coloration. It's a very tricky thing to get a 100% ID on an animal.

It's hard to tell if she will darken as much as the larger female, they age differently. Some stay nice and light, while most do tend to darken with age. That could be as dark as she gets though.
