Like cats?

Interesting video about the Cat House on the Kings, a cat sanctuary in California. This made me remember an earlier thread discussing animal hoarding. Who knows, maybe this woman does have similarities with other "cat lady" hoarders, but as long as the cats are happy and healthy who can complain?

I would have liked to hear that all the cats are spayed or neutered, but there was no mention of that. I'd think they'd have to be or they're be kitten EVERYWHERE! I like that the cats can roam where they want to but seem to be maintained within a fenced area. All the animals do seem to be in excellent care, and they did say that all the animals were up for adoption. Interesting, very interesting Lawrence.

I think she just keeps whichever cats she finds or is given to her until she can find a good home for them. I'm not sure how she keeps the cats on her property, but if the lot is fenced and there aren't any places near her they probably decide to hang out where they can get food and attention.

It says at the end that all of the animals are up for adoption, but if they aren't adopted, they just stay there to live out their lives.

I think that's a pretty cool place. To me it doesn't seem like she is 'hoarding'. Many times animals hoarders, while they feed their animals, aren't usually able to do so, resulting in either the people or the animals, or both living in impoverish conditions. Those people just keep them all, just b/c they want to. This woman seems to be able to take care of all of those animals (some definitely looked like they haven't ever missed a meal... ) and the fact that they are all up for adoption seems to show that she is doing it for the cats, and not just for her.

Over all, pretty cool ^_^

Also, on her website it does say that they spay and neuter all of the animals, and apparently animals that don't live there as well.

I think that this woman is doing good. All of the cats looked healthy and happy.. to me, hoarding is when someone takes on a disproportionally large amount of animals in relation to their space, time, and financial constraints. I don't think that this lady is doing that. I don't know whether or not the cats are spayed, but I sure hope so.. if not, I would worry, unless they were seperated by sex, which I don't think they would be, as they are all allowed free range. If the parameter is fenced in securely (how would you fence a cat in securely though!), I say awesome!

I read on their website that they do spay & neuter which is good to hear!
